John Manwell coached me, the Regulation Manager of United Utilities for a six month company-sponsored personal development programme, during the latter half of 2005. When I approached the programme I was narrowly focused on immediate issues in my career development.
John’s coaching was engaging, stimulating, challenging and thought-provoking. Some confrontation was involved – mostly with myself and my pre-conceptions.
Perspectives quickly widened and John facilitated a process that led to my realisation of aspects of self-awareness that seem simple but which can be very powerful, if one is willing to acknowledge and explore them.
As it turned out, during the course of our coaching programme, I was invited to job interviews. John helped me develop an effective outlook, give a satisfactory account of myself and get full benefit from the experiences.
Far more importantly, John’s coaching enabled me to re-assess myself and my philosophy, to re-evaluate my potential and options in the widest senses, and to appreciate things in their proper perspective against life.
I would not hesitate to recommend others to work with John.
